112. Go to the Guggenheim NY
We are making a very conscious effort to not let LP cramp our style too much. In our daily routine, yes, she takes precedence and I'm staying home with her for at least a year; our evenings are usually spent playing with her and we indulge in a fun nighttime routine (bath, lotion, pajamas, milk, book, cuddle, sleep). However, on the weekends we still try to take make it out of the house, and explore the world. Sometimes that means we stay in the neighborhood and go to brunch, some other times we are more ambitious.
I'm so glad we made it to the Guggenheim last weekend. Seriously. It's unacceptable that after living here for over 3 years, we hadn't gone to see its exhibits. The Guggenheim is both an architectural landmark and a world-class museum, and we had inexplicably ignored it for the MOMA and Met. It's about time we finally made it. Thanks Groupon for providing a good incentive!
It's also wonderful to see LP enjoying our adventures. This marks her 4th time in an art museum, after going to the Fort Worth Modern, National Gallery in DC and the Smithsonian. And the girl seems to like her art. I never cease to be amazed at how she takes in the world, looking curiously at it, engaging people in the streets, staring at colorful items.
She must be used to these things by now. From her perspective it's all par with the course, she was in a subway, then she fell asleep walking outside, and when she woke up she was huge white rotunda (that would be her understanding of the Guggenheim, by the way). Sure. Bring it on.
After breastfeeding her in a circular bench in an exhibit hall, she was awake the rest of the museum experience, happily chewing on her pacifier cord while Nate held her in the baby bjorn. As most babies probably do, she tends to prefer brighter canvases, leaning towards abstract expressionism. As a result, she found many items in this exhibit boring, since it focused on 1910's, constructivism and early cubism. How do I know he didn't care for it? She kept going pfffffffrrrrrrr. And I trust her artistic opinions, even at this age.
