This year we hosted Thanksgiving with Nate's mother. And good thing too. I ended up having stomach issues, and was too sick to cook, never mind travel. Nate was a total rock star and made the entire Thanksgiving meal by himself, with LP attempting to help, but mostly getting in the way. We had to revise the menu a bit since we didn't have all hands on deck, but we ended up having: Honey-glazed ham, cranberry sauce, broccoli cheese rice casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls with butter, sugar cookies for dessert.
This year, I am thankful for my amazing husband, who can whip up an amazing dinner at the drop of a hat, my awesome 3 year old daughter, who's becoming more and more fun each day, and that my loving mother in law came to visit us for the weekend, she brightened up LPs day and helped us out with picking up after the meal. All in all a good day.
▲▲ We got a new buffet at a vintage store a couple of months ago, and this was the first occasion we could properly use it.
▲▲ Broccoli cheese casserole. Rice, chicken broth, shredded cheddar cheese, fresh broccoli florets, cream of mushroom soup.
▲▲ Mashed potatoes with marshmallows, courtesy of Nate's mom. Thanks for a traditional American dish for our Thanksgiving! LP loooved the sweet potatoes, but didn't care for the marshmallows. I get her, but I think she's missing out on something she'll love in the future
▲▲ Homemade cranberry sauce. Boiled fresh cranberries, sugar, orange juice, sugar and a bit of wine.
▲▲ Nate cutting the ham. We got one of the pre-made hams and applied glazing before baking it.
