11. See the Ballet

This is close enough.

A few weeks ago I joined my friends Beth and Stephanie and we saw Alvin Ailey perform at the Celebrate Brooklyn summer music series.  I took LP with me, and we set up shop with some picnic blankets.

It would have been a wonderful night if it hadn't been raining so much.  The rain was off and on, so we were able to hang for a while, and enjoy the night, but then there were times when we had to huddle under our umbrellas.  I was particularly concerned about LP getting wet, and consequently sick.  She was fine, happily eating her cheerios and banana.

Our spot was terrible, and we could hardly see anything in the first act.  The second act was much better, as we moved to a higher spot.  LP, in particular, seemed mesmerized by the dancers, which I found remarkable considering she was barely 10 months old, and the stage was pretty far.  I guess she has an appreciation for modern dance.... her aunts will be happy about that.

We left before the third act because it started pouring again, and it was after LP's bedtime.  Which.. bummer, I would have liked to see the rest of the show.

I wanted a posed picture of me giving the thumbs up with the stage behind me, but alas, I forgot my camera, and unfortunately the rain kept everyone else from taking photos.  It happens.  What counts is that I know I was there.  :)
