23. Do 5 craft projects from the internet - 4) Ergo drool pads
Now with the baby, it's harder to keep up with blogging. Mostly because I was pretty bad at it to begin with.
LP is now 6 months, and growing awesome! She's big for her age, and is hitting her milestones at the expected rate. So what if she doesn't seem to show any interest in crawling, she's sitting on her own already, laughing, grabbing her own pacifier, and recognizing us from across the room. I am not ready for a mobile child yet.
She's also taken to her Ergo carrier as of late. We are total baby-wearing parents, not so much out of principle, but mostly because living in Brooklyn results in a more pedestrian lifestyle. It's easier to strap LP to a carrier and go out for errands. I also put her on her stroller, but many times it's more of a hassle than it's worth. We love the ergo because she gets full back support, the straps are thick and ergonomic (so it doesn't hurt our back), and she will sleep on it for loooong naps. Many times it's saved us when she just wouldn't nap.
She also liked drooling on the ergo straps, so I found some great DIY instructions for drooling pads at Lu Bird Baby. I'm really digging her blog, and hope to make other of her craft projects. And everyone should also check out her Etsy Shop.
I made them while we were visiting in Texas, because I'd have my mom help me, and we could have better access to craft stores like Hobby Lobby. NY/BK is seriously lacking in plain-jane craft stores, everything is specialized, so every time I've tried to buy supplies for little projects, the employees have been so condescending and snobby that it took away any initiative I had. Also, ultimately, my mom finished stitching the drool pads. Taking care of a baby is exhausting, man. My hat's off to all you moms who embrace the homemade WHILE taking care of the baby. I can't really do both at the same time.

Marking the size of the pieces
With my Mom, also cutting the towel we used to absorb the drool
And we have it all pinned together
After sowing it together, we attached Velcro and ironed it flat
SUCCESS!!
